- 38-year-old Hispanic man
- Recently diagnosed with HTN
- No history of medical problems
- Social history: smokes 5—10 cigarettes/d, previously 1 ppd x 15 years, and occasional EtOH use
- Family history: father had long history of HTN and MI at age 56
- No other cardiac risk factors
Physical Examination
- Height, 5'8"; weight, 186 lb
- BP, 152/88 (on atenolol)
- BMI, 28.3 kg/m2
- Waist circumference, 36"
- Remainder of examination unremarkable
